Claire O’Hea

Claire studied Textile Design at the Chelsea College of Art, followed by an MA in Printed Textile Design at the Winchester School of Art.

Her unique designs are influenced by natural and nomadic themes, focusing on primitive and ancient cultures and Haiku poetry - ‘being at one with nature’. Claire’s prints are compelling for their simple beauty and their hidden mystery. Claire is inspired by the simplicity of nature and how it acts as a catalyst that can transform her experiences into the compositions that she creates. She is also inspired by psychedelic imagery: “I’m a child of the late Sixties and lived in Los Angeles for three years, where I looked at a lot of vintage glass and clothing. All those influences come through in my work.”

Her technique is to use torn or cut out shapes, which are then printed onto cloth and paper to create a variety of abstract designs. These designs are then used on interior products such as wall-panels, lampshades and cushions, creating a collection of products that enhance positive feelings of well-being and calm for the contemporary home. Her design concept is based on “The personalisation of a manufactured product that will encourage and invite different feelings of response according to the individual’s design choice, combination and placement”.

Claire's artworks have been featured in numerous magazines including Vogue, The Sunday Times, The Guardian (Space Magazine) and Elle Decoration.
